Divisions for 2027 and Tidworth return!

The 2026 Season has now concluded with Cumberwell Park winning Division One (the League Title), Broome Manor winning Division Two and Hamptworth taking Division three (by a short head). Congratulations to all three but many thanks to all concerned for getting your Matches played and for seldom bothering the Hon Sec with difficult questions - all very much appreciated. 

I look forward to seeing many of you at Finals Day at High Post on Sunday. Please be there good and early to get out onto the course ready to play when the signal is given at 09h00. 

And on another positive note Tidworth are to return to the League for the 2027 Season - as per the Rules (Rule 6) joining us in Division Three. We therefore return to having Five Clubs in each of our three Divisions for the 2027 Season.   

FINALS' DAY will take place at High Post Golf Club on Sunday 11th October 2026 starting at 09.00. This will be a shotgun start.

At the AGM in March we had a fairly detailed discussion about the issue of Player Eligibility particularly in light of the changes to available information arising from the WHS system and in particular the EG App. 

Rule 10 of the League Rules governs Player Eligibility and it remains as follows:- 
“A Club may call upon any Amateur Golfer who is a Member of the Club concerned and who pays, as a consequence of that membership, an affiliation fee to Wiltshire Golf” 

Good Practice:-
It is not a part of the League Rules that to be eligible to play on a particular day the Player should be shown on the EG App as being a Home or an Away Member of the Club concerned. 
If we amended the Rules to include such a provision we would risk having to penalise a Club for selecting a Player who had not had their WHS status updated because of an administrative failing or perhaps one whose status had been incorrectly changed (had been removed in error). League Team Captains are asked to do their best to ensure that all of the Players that they select to play are shown on WHS / The EG App as being either Home or Away Members of their Golf Club and to liaise with their Club Managers and / or Administrators to correct any defaults that they identify having carried out such a check.

CLUBS/DIVISIONS FOR 2027:

The Divisions in 2027 will be as follows:

Division 1 - Cumberwell Park, Bowood, Marlborough, Broome Manor and High Post. 

Division 2 - North Wilts, South Wilts, West Wilts, Hamptworth and Chippenham. 

Division 3 - Ogbourne Downs, Upavon, Erlestoke, Kingsdown and Tidworth.

Finally, please advise the League Secretary of your contact details - League Team Captain and the club officer responsible for administration and particularly for making fixtures arrangements.

FINALS DAY 2025 - SUNDAY 5TH OCTOBER 2025 at CHIPPENHAM GOLF CLUB

Thanks to all clubs who participated in the Finals Day and to Chippenham Golf Club for their support, the presentation of the course despite recent adverse weather and the friendly staff who looked after the players and others in the clubhouse.

Results are as follows:

Teams:

1st Team (Secretary's prize) - Marlborough Golf Club (121 aggregate points)

Runners-up - North Wilts Golf Club (113 aggregate points)

Pairs: 

1st pair - Nick Birch and Ian Blood (Marlborough Golf Club) 42 points, 

2nd Pair - Dom Seaman and Lewy Hayward (41 points), 

3rd Pair - Greg Finney and Dan Ralph (38 points on count back)

The locally adopted Code of Conduct will apply to all of Wiltshire Golf League matches.
